Richard “Racehorse” Haynes, a flamboyant Texas lawyer with a spellbinding courtroom style who won acquittals in several high-profile murder cases and was acclaimed as one of the country’s foremost defense attorneys, died April 28 at his home in Trinity, Tex. He was 90.
His death was announced by a family spokesman, lawyer Chris Tritico. The cause was not disclosed.
Mr. Haynes was a scrappy onetime boxer with a folksy manner and a dogged, counterpunching style of advocacy.

Getty ImagesOscar-winning actress Sophia Loren has undergone emergency surgery following a fall in her bathroom at her Swiss home.
The 89-year-old sustained several "serious fractures" to different parts of her hip and femur, her agent Andrea Giusti told the PA news agency.
Loren's representative also confirmed both Loren's sons, Carlo and Edoardo Ponti, were at her bedside.
A spokesperson told Reuters the surgery "went well and now she needs to rest and everything will be resolved"

Pete Snyder’s Disruptor Capital, an Alexandria-based angel investment firm, has joined an estimated $5 million funding round aimed at boosting production for a Richmond-based clothing company co-founded by the son of former U.S. Sen. Paul Trible.
The company, Ledbury, whose headquarters is in a tobacco warehouse in a historical section of Richmond, intends to use the investment to help its e-commerce sales and increase its shirt production from about 65,000 this year to a goal of 100,000 in 2015.
